Stormy Weather
2024 finally blew itself out here in the woods, with the latter quarter of the year punctuated with storm after storm. It seemed that Ashley, Bert, Conall and Darragh had teaming up to test the resilience of our trees.
Thankfully we got off lightly. But, one sizeable sycamore, decided to snap eight feet up and then hang itself up in the canopy. A tricky and dangerous situation, and one which needed a lot of planning (and procrastination) to deal with!
However, after some thought (a lot of thought) and the help of a two-ton winch, it was finally coaxed to the ground.
As you can see it was not a healthy specimen, but it did produce a few useable billets for the lathe and a few barrow-loads of firewood!
